U-Scan Comments

First, we had self-serve gas stations (It's difficult to find a full service station anymore). Now, we have U-Scan grocery stores. The Fred Meyer on 19th and Stevens has one clerk assisting four separate check stands where you check your own grocery items. This is all done in the name of profit. The bottom line is more important than the security of a person's job. If the Fred Meyer Corporation would prefer not to hire checkers to serve its customers, it is up to us to show them we disagree. I strongly urge shoppers not to use these U-Scan check stands. The result is clear: If we choose not to be our own checkers, they will have to hire people to do the job like they should have to begin with, and the U-Scan stands will disappear. Or what will be next? Maybe they'll have us stock the shelves before they let us check ourselves out.
