The $25 billion Kroger-Albertsons merger could affect grocery stores relied on by 85 million households. The company could jack up prices even higher and pay workers even less. Every five years, representatives from UFCW from chartered bodies in the US and Canada come together to debate issues and pass resolutions, make amendments to the international constitution, and elect international officers. It also is an opportunity to connect and collaborate with other UFCW members from a diverse range of industries and backgrounds. This year over 1700 delegates and alternates, will gather to attend meetings and workshops to not only learn new skills for themselves, but to gather fresh ideas to take back to the food, processing facilities, grocery stores, nursing homes, packing houses, retail and other places where they work.
